Senior Disaster Support for Safer, Connected Communities
When disasters strike, no senior should be left to weather the storm alone. The Senior Disaster Support Program strengthens vulnerable communities by hosting monthly events that deliver hurricane preparedness tools, recovery resources, and most importantly, connection. By fostering trust and friendships among neighbors in high-risk senior housing, we’re building a reliable support system to keep older adults safe before, during, and after a storm.
You can make a difference by volunteering, donating, or adopting a senior community to ensure no one faces a storm alone. As a Disaster Support Volunteer, you’ll become a trusted friend, providing support to seniors through every stage of a potential disaster. When you donate, each dollar provides seniors with essential disaster kits, evacuation tools, and trained volunteers who offer comfort and critical support. Groups can also adopt a senior community to build resilience all year long through workshops and preparedness activities.
Neighbors Helping Neighbors in Tampa Bay
Seniors living alone or with limited mobility face extreme risks during hurricanes, from being stranded without power to lacking access to food or medical help. This program addresses both isolation and disaster readiness by turning neighbors into lifelines. The result is safer, more connected communities that can respond and recover together when it matters most.
